Gilfillan House

Design of renovations to the Gilfillan House in downtown Austin, Texas are underway to convert this former residence to a multi-purpose event venue.

This residence was constructed in 1905 for William L. Gilfillan (d.1932), one of the founders and directors of the Austin National Bank. Designed by the prominent Austin architect Charles H. Page, Jr., the original two-story brick home reflects a mixture of popular pre-World War I architectural styles, including Mission Revival and the Prairie School.  Hollingsworth Pack is providing structural engineering consulting alongside PGAL Architecture, Engineering, Interiors, and Planning.

The structural scope includes includes strengthening the wood-framed structure, which has exceeded its design service life, to meet modern commercial live load requirements by reinforcing floor, wall, and foundation members, and replacing decayed elements.
